Five years ago, I started FILO to raise awareness about injustice in the criminal justice system, to draw attention to the masses, the hundreds of thousands of people that are now serving 25 years to life for low-level nonviolent drug related crimes.
Over the years, I've helped craft legislation at the state level, and I've worked intricately with the good people at the Women's Foundation to address concerns of the dramatic impact that women entering the prison system and it's impact to the children, and our social structure.
